The short version
We need some information to authenticate you and run the platform. Your opinions and replies are public; your private account information is not intentionally published just because you participate.
1. What we collect
Account and onboarding information: Google authentication provides the information needed to establish your account, such as your Google account identifier, name and verified email information. During onboarding you provide a real name, pseudonym and choose an avatar. Your real name and account identifiers are kept as private account information.
Participation information: We store opinions, replies, the identity selected for each post, Helpful interactions, reports, topic participation and related timestamps.
Technical and security information: We may process IP address, browser/device information, session information and security/application logs when reasonably necessary for authentication, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and security.
Contact information: If you contact DifferMind, we process the name, email, subject and message you submit and any related information needed to handle the request.
2. How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, provide and personalise the service, publish the identity you intentionally select for a post, maintain your private activity area, process Helpful and reporting actions, moderate abuse, secure the platform, troubleshoot technical problems, communicate with you when needed, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. What becomes public
Topics, opinions and replies are intended to be publicly readable. For each opinion or reply, DifferMind displays the identity you selected—Real Name or Pseudonym—rather than exposing your private account identifier.
Your Google account identifier, email address and private real-name profile are not intentionally disclosed to the public merely because you post using a pseudonym. However, you should not put private information into a public opinion or reply yourself.
Administrator-created topic summaries are separate platform content and are not presented as a statement of your personal view.
4. Google authentication
DifferMind uses Google Login for authentication and does not receive or store your Google password. Google may separately process information under Google's own policies and terms. Your use of Google authentication is also subject to the terms applicable to Google's services.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the service, including authenticated sessions, server-side ownership checks, controlled API access, CSRF protection, rate limiting, moderation controls and security logging. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
7. Retention, deactivation and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including operation, security, moderation, dispute handling and legal obligations.
Account deactivation signs you out and disables active use without immediately deleting the account data. Permanent account deletion is available through Settings and removes the account data, opinions, replies, identity records, private profile and associated personal reactions/reports according to the current application deletion process.
Information may nevertheless be retained where reasonably necessary or legally required, including security records, moderation records, legal compliance records, or information needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
8. Your choices
Depending on the feature and applicable law, you can edit your own opinions and replies, change your pseudonym, choose the public identity used for new posts, deactivate your account, or permanently delete your account. You may also contact us about a privacy concern through the Contact Us page.
We will handle privacy requests in accordance with applicable law and may need to verify the request before taking action.
9. Children and eligibility
DifferMind is intended for people who are legally able to use the service in their jurisdiction. Do not create an account or submit personal information if you are not permitted to do so under the laws that apply to you.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our service, technology, legal requirements or data practices change. The latest version and its update date will be published on this page.
