Community rules

Disagree freely. Don't make it personal.

DifferMind is built for disagreement. These rules protect the basic conditions needed for people to express a view, challenge an idea and continue the conversation.

The DifferMind standard

Challenge ideas. Question claims. Change your mind. But don't use disagreement as a reason to target, expose, threaten or manipulate another person.

1. No harassment, threats or intimidation

Do not threaten violence, repeatedly target a person, stalk, intimidate, bully or encourage harm. A strong disagreement is allowed; sustained personal abuse is not.

2. No hateful or dehumanising abuse

Do not attack or dehumanise people because of protected or other personal characteristics. Discussion of politics, religion, culture, identity, public policy and other difficult subjects is allowed when it remains within these rules.

3. Respect privacy and pseudonyms

Do not publish private addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passwords, financial information, private photographs or other sensitive personal information without an appropriate lawful basis. Do not attempt to expose a participant who has chosen to use a pseudonym.

Choosing a pseudonym on DifferMind changes what other users see; it does not give you permission to misuse another person's private information or to assume that a pseudonymous account is anonymous to the platform.

4. No impersonation or deliberate deception

Do not pretend to be another person, organisation or public figure. Do not fabricate evidence and present it as authentic. Opinions can be subjective; deliberate deception intended to mislead, defraud or harm others is not acceptable.

5. No scams, spam or platform manipulation

Do not use DifferMind to scam users, distribute malware, flood discussions with repetitive promotion, manipulate Helpful reactions, coordinate false reports, create artificial engagement, or evade moderation through multiple accounts or other technical means.

6. Keep the discussion useful

Stay reasonably connected to the topic. Repeated off-topic posting, copied promotional material and intentionally disruptive behaviour may be removed. You do not need to agree with the topic or other participants to contribute.

7. Don't misuse reports

Report content because it appears to violate the rules or raise a genuine safety/legal concern—not simply because you dislike the opinion. Coordinated, abusive or knowingly false reporting may itself be moderated.

8. How moderation works

Reports are reviewed using the available content and context. Depending on the circumstances, DifferMind may leave content up, hide or remove it, dismiss a report, restrict an account, close a topic or take another reasonable action.

Moderation is not a promise that every violation will be detected. A moderation action does not necessarily mean that a statement is factually false or legally unlawful; it means the platform has applied its rules or another applicable requirement.

9. Illegal or seriously harmful content

Content involving unlawful threats, exploitation, non-consensual intimate material, serious privacy violations, fraud, malware or other unlawful activity may be removed and may be referred to appropriate authorities where legally required or reasonably necessary.

10. If something goes wrong

Use Report on the relevant opinion or reply when possible so moderators can see the exact content and context. For account, privacy or other service issues, use Contact Us.

Remember: the rules apply to behaviour, not viewpoints. DifferMind is intended to make room for genuine disagreement while keeping participation within reasonable boundaries.
